All-Clad Food Mill

Product Description

The Food Mill is crafted completely of 18/10 stainless steel. It has two sturdy side handles that keep the mill base securely in place during the food preparation process. Great for pureeing a variety of fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses into fine, medium, and coarse consistencies.

Amazon.com Review

This sturdy, hand-cranked mill sieves out seeds, skins, and tough fibers. It’s perfect for pureeing tomato sauce, thick soups, and homemade baby food. Mashed potatoes made with a food mill also process more quickly than those made with a ricer or hand masher. Three interchangeable grinding discs create a variety of food textures: fine for smooth sauces or beginner baby food; medium for applesauce; large for mashed potatoes.

To use, simply turn the mill’s crank to push cooked foods through small holes in the disc below. The main handle is ergonomically-designed for smooth action and uniform pureeing. Two sturdy side handles allow the mill to rest on (and the puree to fall into) a pot, pan, or bowl placed underneath. Made from durable 18/10 stainless steel, this mill fits any All-Clad four or 4-1/2 quart saucepan. The entire unit is dishwasher-safe for quick and easy clean-up. --Mary Park

1.0 out of 5 stars Critical Design Flaws., December 5, 2006

I should begin this review by saying that I own a number of All Clad pots and pans, each of which is made of exceptional materials and functions perfectly. For the serious home cook, they are well worth the cost. I purchased my All Clad food mill based on this previous experience, from a famous NYC gourmet/housewares retailer.

The food mill itself is beautifully made from top quality materials. The fit and finish of all components is excellent. But the design flaws are so glaring that I suggest you avoid this product entirely. What are the problems?

First, the narrow recesses at the bottom of the mill's bowl (into which you put the foods to be processed) are SO narrow and so precise that they fit only onto a specific bowl, not one you might happen to already have in the house. This results in additional expense.

Second, while the three graduated inserts are an excellent idea, so that one can get various textures of milled food, the blade that... Read more

I am a chef, I have used the best food mills out there, and this is not one of them, in fact, this is a waist of metal, it does not work at all.

That is hard to admit, as I love all-clad pans, they are the best.

1.0 out of 5 stars Over Priced and Useless All-Clad Food Mill - Arrogant Customer [DON'T] Care, November 2, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: All-Clad Food Mill (Kitchen)
This useless food mill is retail priced $145. I paid $119 plus $17 shipping. It is poorly designed. I expected it to have the "footing" all other food mills have so that it can be used over any manufacturer's bowls and pots with sufficient width and depth so that milled food materials for soups, for example, can collect in the bottom of the bowl or pot. This product only fits one specific quite small All-Clad pot that is 2 1/4 quarts and the exact width around as the food mill as it can only fit flush on top of this particular pot thereby limiting collection space. The retailer recognized the limitations of the food mill and agreed to take it back, refund my $119, with the return shipping paid by them, but not the original $17 shipping expense. When I contacted All-Clad I got their arrogance and insistence that the picture and description on Amazon made it clear their food mill (the highest priced in the mkt) did not have the required footing and that it only works on their one sized...
